CSS has partnered with an international, publicly traded?leader in the? sustainable solutions space to look for a new US Payroll Manager. What You?ll Do
In this role, you will:
- Lead and manage payroll operations for over 1,300 employees across the U.S. and Canada, ensuring timely and compliant payroll processing for both salaried and hourly employees.
- Oversee the preparation and submission of files to our payroll vendor, including garnishments, benefit contributions, payroll taxes, and more.
- Administer and monitor our time management system for accurate timekeeping and reporting across multiple locations.
- Audit and verify third-party payroll processing to ensure compliance with federal, state, and provincial regulations, including timely filing of taxes and W-2s/T4s.
- Collaborate with Accounting to reconcile payroll funding, manage check balances, and ensure accurate payroll-related accounting.
- Act as the point of contact for Internal Audit and Controls teams to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Lead, develop, and mentor a team of Payroll Specialists, offering training, professional development, and cross-training opportunities.
- Drive payroll improvement projects, partnering with HR, HRIS, and Benefits teams to optimize processes and enhance system functionality.
- Represent payroll in cross-functional initiatives, providing guidance on new technology implementations and business requirements.
What You Will Bring
We?re looking for a highly skilled individual with:
- Bachelor?s degree in HR, Finance, Business Administration, or relevant certification(s) with significant payroll processing experience.
- 7+ years of payroll processing experience, with 3+ years of supervisory/management experience leading a payroll team.
- Experience with Workday payroll processing is required.
- Strong understanding of U.S. and Canadian payroll regulations, including federal, state, and provincial tax laws.
- Experience processing payroll for 1,000+ employees across multiple locations.
- Demonstrated ability to manage payroll operations, lead teams, and implement payroll improvements.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint to support data analysis and reporting needs.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interact with internal stakeholders and external vendors.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Certified Payroll Manager certification.
- Experience with UKG Pro is a plus.
- Experience in implementing and scaling payroll systems, especially in high-growth environments.
