Physician Assistant – HPB Surgery (Outpatient)
Schedule: Monday–Friday
Salary: $135,000–$145,000 (hard max)
Experience: Preferably 1+ year as a Physician Assistant

Position Overview:
We are looking for a Physician Assistant to join a highly specialized Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary (HPB) surgery team. HPB surgery focuses on complex conditions affecting the liver, pancreas, and biliary system, including pancreatic and liver cancers, bile duct disorders, chronic pancreatitis, and advanced surgical reconstruction.

This role offers exposure to high-acuity surgical patients in a primarily outpatient setting, with opportunities to participate in pre-operative, post-operative, and longitudinal patient care within a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess patient health status through interviews, physical examinations, and chart review

  • Document patient care services in medical records

  • Perform physical examinations and provide treatment, including initiating care independently when appropriate

  • Order and interpret diagnostic testing including labs, imaging studies, and ECGs

  • Provide follow-up care, including prescribing and adjusting medications per protocol

  • Conduct pre-operative workups, surgical clearance, and patient optimization

  • Deliver post-operative care including wound care and drain management

  • Develop, implement, and modify patient management plans

  • Coordinate multidisciplinary plans of care and specialty referrals

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for patients, families, and referring providers

  • Participate in interdisciplinary conferences, meetings, and care coordination efforts

  • Maintain strong communication, clinical judgment, and organizational skills

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 1–3 years of relevant Physician Assistant experience preferred

  • Active New York State Physician Assistant license

  • National PA certification

  • DEA registration (or ability to obtain)

  • Intermediate proficiency in MS Office and electronic medical records (Epic preferred)

Preferred Skills:

  • Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic abilities

  • Ability to manage and coordinate a diverse patient caseload

  • Experience working within collaborative practice agreements

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills
