Recertification Specialist

We have partnered with a Regional Property Management company who is looking for a Recertification Specialist for their 1000+ unit portfolio in New  Haven.

Pay is $20-22/hour with a schedule of 8am – 430pm Mon-Fri

Requirement:
Previous experience processing verifications, performing calculations, handing out rental calculation notices, and working with EIVs is necessary for this position.
This position also requires the person to be a fluent Spanish speaker.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in HUD housing programs, Section 8, LIHTC, or property management required
  • Strong working knowledge of HUD regulations, Fair Housing laws, and Connecticut affordable housing programs required
  • Experience with property management software (Yardi preferred)
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple deadlines
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to remain professional and composed in high-pressure situations
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish required

Responsibilities
The Recertification Specialist oversees annual and interim certifications for project-based residents, ensuring full compliance with HUD regulations and Connecticut housing requirements while maintaining accurate records and delivering exceptional resident service.

  • Process annual and interim recertifications for HUD, Section 8, and LIHTC programs
  • Gather and verify documentation related to income, assets, expenses, and household composition
  • Calculate rent and Housing Assistance Payments (HAP) in accordance with HUD guidelines using Yardi
  • Prepare and issue rent adjustment notices; maintain accurate tenant files
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with residents and subsidy agencies regarding documentation and deadlines
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local housing regulations
  • Maintain thorough documentation for audit and compliance purposes (electronic and physical files)
  • Participate in audits, inspections, and regulatory reviews
  • Stay current on HUD regulations and Connecticut housing program updates
