Accounting Manager

Pay $65k – $ 80 k 

Purpose
*Manages and oversees daily operations for the Accounting Department.
*Provides support and guidance for the Accounting Department team.
*Manages and oversees daily operations for Accounting, Office and HR Department

Scope
*Under limited supervision, coordinates and participates in all Accounting Office and HR Department activities while ensuring that the accurate and timely preparation of all financial statements, transaction postings and reporting is achieved.

Duties

  • Performs various general accounting functions such as vendor/bank account reconciliation, monthly review of the general ledger, monthly preparation of trial balance package to include P&L, etc.
  • Effectively monitors and assists as necessary with all accounts payable and receivable processing and procedures to guarantee accuracy and completeness.
  • Works with customer service representatives and sales department.
  • Oversees all credit/collection activity to minimize write-offs.
  • Works on import/export of containers as related to sales department.
  • Works closely with President to prioritize and coordinate activities based on company financial requirements.
  • The precise preparation of payrolls, maintenance of payroll accounts and all year end reporting associated with employee, independent contractor and consultant expenditures to meet strict deadlines.
  • Responsible for all payroll related issues and documentation, such as, I-9 forms, communicating employee eligibility and withholding employee contributions for health benefits, processing completed benefits forms correctly, issuing letters explaining COBRA to separated employees, etc.
  • Communicates recommendations regarding hiring, promotion, discipline, termination, etc. of employees.
  • Identifies staff development and training needs to ensure competency while achieving departmental goals.
  • Devises new systems as necessary and initiates reports regarding expenses, budgeting, pricing, etc. deemed appropriate for management use and approved by President.
  • Cooperates fully with all Flagship Converters business associates (CPA firms, lawyers, vendors, customers, Appraisal, Trustee and Third-Party Administrator, Insurance Agents etc.) as necessary and appropriate
  • Insurances – Workers Comp, Liability, Health, Short-Term, Long-Term Disability and Life.
  • Maintains open communication with management in all departments while preserving a positive work environment to ensure a cohesive approach to reaching company goals
  • Resolution of all computer software system issues as they relate to the Accounting Department
  • Responsible to motivate individuals while promoting teamwork in the Accounting Department so as to yield higher departmental standards
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by President.

Requirements 

  • Associates in accounting 
  • 4+ years of accounting experience ( ideally managing) 
  • Experience in Microsoft programs – excel
