Compensation: $120,000–$125,000
Fee Agreement: 22%
Overview:
Our client, a well-established and growing organization, is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee and manage the full accounting function. This is a hybrid role requiring at least 2 days onsite in Wallingford, CT, and offers a competitive salary for a top-tier candidate.
Reporting To: Director, Accounting and Business Services
Role Summary:
The Accounting Manager will lead all facets of the accounting function, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, treasury, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting. The role includes preparing month-end and year-end close processes, managing audits, and delivering actionable financial analysis to support operational and strategic decisions.
Key Responsibilities:

Manage day-to-day accounting operations across the full spectrum of functions, including GL, AP, AR, payroll, treasury, budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, capital asset reconciliations, and debt activity.

Ensure timely month-end close (within 5 days), producing financial statements and ad hoc analytical reports.

Oversee payroll processing, reconciliation, and reporting (ADP experience preferred).

Assist with annual budgeting and year-end audits, including preparation of schedules, analysis, and liaison with auditors.

Lead, mentor, and guide accounting staff to optimize workflow and ensure task completion.

Develop process improvements to streamline procedures and enhance operational efficiency.

Prepare regulatory filings and reports (SoS, PURA, FCC, USAC, PBGC, etc.) as required.

Communicate regularly with leadership regarding workflow, issues, and project status.
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; 5–7+ years of progressive accounting experience.

Strong accounting knowledge across all areas; GAAP compliance essential.

Advanced Excel skills required; Microsoft Dynamics SL and Sage Fixed Assets experience a plus.

Experience with payroll systems, preferably ADP.

Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving abilities.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills; highly collaborative and detail-oriented.

Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.

Experience mentoring and supervising staff; effective at giving and receiving feedback.
