Controller

Job Description:

  • As a Controller, you will be providing financial analysis and business strategies to senior-level executives in the organization regarding finance and accounting.
  • Managing the day-to-day accounting and financial functions including but not limited to: Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Bank Reconciliations, Cash Management, performing audits and reconciliations of all General Ledger accounts, project cost accounting and billing, income & sales tax payments
  • Assess and evaluate the financial performance of the organization with regard to long-term operational goals, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Partnering with Project Managers to monitor project budgets and performance.
  • Provide insight and recommendations for both short-term and long-term growth plans of the organization.
  • Create and establish yearly financial objectives that align with the company’s plan for growth and expansion.
  • Oversee the Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) for the organization.
  • Prepare and present monthly financial reports – including monthly balance sheets, profit and loss, forecast vs. budget, and weekly cash flow for each department and division.
  • Prepare and evaluate with management monthly jobs in the process schedule.
  • Prepare and supply all required information to outside banks, surety, and other 3rd parties.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for external auditors; Manage preparation and support of all external audits.
  • Communicate with Project Managers, subcontractors, and general contractors in regard to ongoing and already completed projects

Qualification:

  • Minimum 4 years experience as a Controller, preferably in the construction industry.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in accounting and finance.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Experience managing and developing a strong accounting department team.
  • Ability to multi-task, and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving skills
  • Prior experience in establishing and maintaining an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) is a plus
  • Knowledge of Sage 100 is a plus
