JOB TITLE- CONTROLS & AUTOMATION ENGINEER

COMPENSATION- $140,000-$150,000

We are currently seeking a Controls Engineer that will be directly engaged and responsible for owning all aspects of specialty automated assembly equipment, robotics, drives, controls, vision systems, safety circuits, PLC’s and other related electrical issues arising during daily production operations.  

In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing our controls processes to ensure efficient production and high-quality products. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, provide technical expertise, and implement continuous improvement initiatives to drive operational excellence. You’ll take ownership and drive results, performing challenging and non?routine controls engineering work requiring the application of standard engineering techniques and procedures. You will provide daily support to the production floor to ensure continuous production of quality products.

Responsibilities/Duties

  • Machine Controls: Troubleshoot, understand, and improve control systems for a variety of machines, including robots, and other automated equipment.
  • Electro-Mechanical Systems: In cooperation with mechanical personnel, troubleshoot and repair electro-mechanical equipment, such as sensors, actuators, and motor drives.
  • Project Management: Manage control system sustaining engineering projects from inception to completion, including planning, scheduling, and budgeting.
  • Documentation: Develop and maintain clear and concise technical documentation, including control system designs, wiring diagrams, and operating procedures.

Skills

Required:

  • Strong proficiency in PLC programming (Allen-Bradley preferred).
  • Knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems, including sensors, actuators, and power distribution.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
  • Intermediate experience with Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

 

Preferred:

  • PLC Programming: Ability to develop, implement, and troubleshoot PLC programs to control various manufacturing processes.
  • Experience in a highly regulated industry, such as aerospace or medical devices.
  • Knowledge of robotics and motion control systems.
  • Experience with safety systems (e.g., safety PLCs, safety interlocks).

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor of Science Degree (Electrical Engineering or Technology preferred).
  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience as a Controls Engineer or Automation Engineer.
  • Experience in high volume metal working production (>10 million units per year), a strong plus.
