  • Office Size: Smaller office of a large international law firm
  • Target Salary: $70,000 – $85,000
  • Bonus: 2-7% discretionary, up for review early next year.

  • Industry Experience: Law Firm, Real Estate, Tax, Financial Services.
  • Testing Requirements: Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint (formatting skills).
  • Skills: Experience with closing binders and corporate formation.

Job Description: An international law firm is seeking a Legal Secretary to support attorneys in litigation, regulatory, and transactional practices. Responsibilities include drafting legal documents, managing correspondence, handling legal filings, maintaining attorney calendars, coordinating meetings and travel, managing phone calls, handling confidential information, and assisting with billing and administrative tasks. Proficiency in MS Office and other legal software is required. A minimum of five years of experience in a legal environment is preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Draft and format complex legal documents.
  • Compose and review correspondence and presentation materials.
  • Coordinate physical and electronic filing of legal documents.
  • Maintain attorney calendars and coordinate travel and meetings.
  • Screen and manage telephone calls.
  • Handle confidential and sensitive information.
  • Assist with time entry and client billing.
  • Perform administrative tasks and support team efforts as needed.
  • Maintain physical and electronic filing systems.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required. AA/BA/BS degree is a plus.
  • Experience: Minimum of five years in a legal environment.
  • Skills:
    • High-quality client service.
    • Ability to follow directions and work both independently and as part of a team.
    • Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
    • Knowledge of Adobe, Forms Workflow, Workshare Compare, and Best Authority preferred.
    • Excellent command of English (spelling, grammar, punctuation).
    • Strong communication skills.
    • Attention to detail and ability to handle routine and non-routine tasks.
    • Adaptability to changing priorities.
    • Sound judgment and discretion with confidential information.
    • Knowledge of legal terminology and procedures.
    • Ability to type 80 words per minute.
    • Ability to work overtime and lift up to 25 pounds.
