Job Summary

As the Senior Business Development Manager, you will collaborate with and support AM Law Firm’s White Collar & Regulatory Enforcement practice group and Investigations working group. Reporting to a Senior Business Development Director, you will play a pivotal role in driving business development, branding, and marketing initiatives. Your responsibilities will involve strategic advisory work, client relationship development, and collaboration with internal teams to support the growth and visibility of the practice groups.

Responsibilities

  1. Business Development Planning:

    • Partner with department, practice, and working group leaders to develop and execute annual business development plans.
    • Identify opportunities for client expansion, cross-selling, and collaboration with other practice groups.
  2. Strategic Guidance:

    • Provide high-level business development advice demonstrating a deep understanding of the group’s experience, client base, market forces, and competitive landscape.
    • Bring innovative ideas to support client retention, expansion, and brand elevation.
  3. Pitching and Proposal Development:

    • Develop formal and informal pitch materials and proposal responses.
    • Focus on positioning relevant experience, knowledge, and value-added offerings.
  4. Lateral Recruiting Support:

    • Collaborate with practice and recruiting leadership to develop strategies for lateral recruiting efforts.
    • Facilitate introductions and business pursuit opportunities for new hires.
  5. Marketing Collateral and Branding:

    • Develop compelling marketing collateral and ensure up-to-date materials through knowledge management efforts.
    • Analyze client and market intelligence to inform business development initiatives.
  6. Client Service and Events:

    • Support client service teams as assigned.
    • Plan and orchestrate client development events with group attorneys.
  7. Public Relations and Thought Leadership:

    • Identify opportunities to increase brand awareness through events, presentations, media opportunities, and published articles.
    • Drive thought leadership efforts, including blogs, alerts, and published articles.
  8. Recognition Opportunities:

    • Oversee the preparation of submissions to Chambers, Law360, and other ranking publications.
    • Manage the groups’ business development budget in collaboration with group leadership.
  9. Team Management:

    • Guide, mentor, and train direct reports to maximize available resources for revenue opportunities.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proven experience in proactive business development, including revenue growth and client relationship development.
  • Strong business and marketing acumen, leveraging business intelligence for strategic initiatives.
  • Results-oriented with a focus on enhancing practice group brands.
  • Highly motivated, persuasive, priority-driven, and collaborative.
  • Ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and perform well under pressure.
  • Excellent communication, writing, and presentation skills.
  • Experience with knowledge management systems, including CRM and experience management.
  • Previous leadership experience in building and managing comprehensive BD support functions.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; JD, MBA, or related advanced degree may substitute for required experience.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible, directly related experience.
  • Previous business development and marketing experience in a professional services firm strongly preferred.
  • Previous experience working with a White Collar practice strongly preferred.
