Staff Accountant
Location: Newport, RI
Hours:
- Full-time hours
- 8am-5pm M-F
Job Requirements:
- Partner with Controller and GM to advise on inventory control development and execution.
- Support day-to-day accounting tasks, including month-end close, revenue recognition, inventory management, and cash management.
- Report on KPI metrics, analyze variances, and provide insights.
- Collaborate with site teams to provide financial information, training, and guidance.
- Assist in inventory reviews, reduce slow-moving inventory, and manage annual physical counts and cycle counting procedures.
- Contribute to annual standard costing updates and cost variance analysis.
- Provide timely budget reports and spend analytics to department managers.
- Perform ad hoc requests, including forecasting and investigating transactions in the ERP system.
- Assist with monthly reporting, departmental budgets, and ad hoc analysis for management.
- Drive cost and manufacturing accounting improvements to enhance operational metrics and inventory management.
- Support the external audit process with sample selections and accounting schedules.
- Partner with the Controller to improve accounting processes.
- Utilize MS Excel and database skills for data management and analysis.
- Assist with monthly account reconciliations and ensure compliance with GAAP and safety policies.
- Participate in special projects and assist with financial planning and budgeting.
- Required: B.S. in Accounting/Finance, 4+ years in accounting/finance, preferably in manufacturing.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite, with strong Excel and ERP system experience.
- Knowledge of GAAP and month-end close processes, with a focus on cost accounting methodologies.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Pay Rate:
- $35/hr
