Tax Accountant

Job Description: We are looking for a Tax Accountant with significant experience in tax compliance and consulting, specifically with C-corporations. The ideal candidate will have experience gained from working in a Big Four accounting firm and possess a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license. You will be responsible for managing tax returns, tax provision calculations, and providing strategic tax advice to clients in various industries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and review C-corporation tax returns (Form 1120) for clients across different industries.
  • Perform tax planning and research on complex corporate tax issues, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws.
  • Assist with quarterly and annual tax provision calculations under ASC 740 (FIN 48) for corporate clients.
  • Provide advice and support on tax issues such as mergers, acquisitions, and restructuring for corporate clients.
  • Liaise with clients to gather relevant tax information and provide updates on ongoing tax matters.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including audit, legal, and finance departments, to address client tax needs.
  • Conduct research on tax issues to ensure accurate tax return preparation and provide recommendations for tax-saving strategies.
  • Assist in managing client relationships and communicate tax strategies to clients in a clear and concise manner.
  • Stay up to date on changes in tax laws and regulations, advising clients on the potential impact.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license or pursuing a CPA is required.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in tax accounting, with a focus on corporate taxation (preferably C-corp tax returns).
  • Significant experience working in a Big Four accounting firm is highly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations, particularly related to C-corporations.
  • Experience with tax compliance and reporting software, including but not limited to, ProSystem fx, CCH, or similar platforms.
  • Solid understanding of ASC 740 tax provision and tax accounting.
  • Ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with 5472, 5471, 1118, 8992, 8993, and FBAR
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex tax issues to clients in an understandable manner.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Proactive in seeking opportunities for process improvements and optimizing tax strategies.
