Responsibilities
- Supervise and direct the day-to-day operations and staffing of the underwriting unit to ensure a high level of efficiency. Recommend changes to improve efficiencies to systems and processes.
- Monitor the underwriting process for compliance with Plan rules, performance standards and standard operating procedures. Perform self-audits to ensure compliance.
- Coordinate changes to the operation due to revisions and/or amendments to the Plan or procedures. Provide training to staff on changes. Update internal standard operating procedures accordingly.
- Develop and maintain relationships with external customers, producers and companies. Create and maintain reports based on requests from internal and external customers.
- Handle complex underwriting problems and inquiries from insurance regulators, insureds, and producers.
- Compile and monitor productivity and performance. Monitor transaction, system and phone reports to determine performance meets metrics.
- Document and resolve system problems and oversee system enhancements in conjunction with Programming staff.
- Assist management in developing, managing, and controlling the annual budget.
- Assist management with implementation of new or revised procedures.
