Vice President of Operations – North Shore, MA

SUMMARY: Responsible for quality, on-time delivery, safety, productivity and implementing continuous improvement by incorporating Lean techniques for all operations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The incumbent may be required to perform all, or a combination of the following essential functions as determined by business necessity.
- Lead & provide direction to the operations team including production, supply chain and manufacturing engineering groups to meet total manufacturing requirements.
- Develop high level goals and objectives based on business needs and growth across all operations functions.
- Set priorities of project efforts and conflicting needs.
- Ready the organization for product introductions, partnerships and acquisitions.
- Develop strategic initiatives that result in cost reductions, capacity increases and innovative manufacturing to meet customer demand and improve margins.
- Using Supply Chain, Production, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, R&D and other relevant resources to develop projects, starting with low margin products, to increase profitability.
- Develop and implement plans for adding additional production lines to spread overhead over more products.
- Evaluate and, as appropriate, engage contract manufacturers to enhance production output as needed.
- Seek out latest technologies and, where appropriate, develop plans and incorporate into the production process.
- Monitor and guide team to achieve delivery of high-quality products to include performance, reliability, cost, and on-time delivery.
- Provide operational metrics (on-time delivery, inventory levels and turns, lead times, operational non conformances, OEE, etc.), monitor data and take appropriate corrective action where needed.
- Ensure staff are meeting expectations.
- Ensure all operational functions are executing risk mitigations.
- Partner with head of quality and regulatory to ensure operations is compliant with all regulations.
- Ensure the operations organization updates procedures and policies to meet changing regulatory requirements.
- Ensure all operational objectives are successfully met.
- Manage expenditures to ensure financial goals are met.
- Monitor and manage spending for all operations departments.
- Develop capital spending plans in conjunction with company objectives and policies to meet operational needs and maximize production performance.
- Develop and execute on Lean and continuous improvement activities.
- Responsible for overseeing safety and environmental requirements for the facility.
- Member of the Executive Management Team.
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: In addition to the essential functions listed above, the incumbent may be required to perform other non-essential functions. Employees are required to follow any other job-related instructions and to perform any other job-related duties as requested by their supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- BS degree in Engineering or equivalent experience. Advanced degree is preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years progressive Engineering experience in the medical device industry.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in assembly manufacturing operations.
- Demonstrated strong planning and organizational skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to communicate and manage well at all levels of the organization.
- Strong problem solving skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analysis.
- Experience in M&A is a plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
