Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Payroll Manager to join our team. This role is critical in overseeing the payroll process for multiple clients, each with unique payroll systems and requirements. The ideal candidate will have strong supervisory skills, extensive knowledge of complex payroll systems, and experience in streamlining payroll audit processes. As a mostly remote position, this role offers the flexibility to work from home with occasional onsite visits as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Supervision: Manage and oversee a team of 3 or more payroll specialists, conducting regular one-on-ones, providing guidance, and ensuring accuracy and compliance in payroll processing.
  • Payroll Oversight: Oversee and manage the entire payroll process for multiple clients, most of whom have 900 employees or fewer, ensuring timely and accurate payroll processing.
  • System Implementation: Lead the implementation and optimization of payroll systems and processes, with a focus on streamlining payroll audits.
  • Complex Payroll Processing: Work with various payroll systems (e.g., UKG, Paylocity, ADP, Paycor) to handle diverse and complex payrolls across different client companies. Demonstrate the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new systems.
  • Payroll Tax Management: Ensure compliance with all payroll tax regulations, including calculating, withholding, and remitting payroll taxes.
  • Client Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their specific payroll needs, and providing exceptional customer service throughout the duration of their contracts.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a supervisory role with the ability to manage a team of 3 or more employees, including conducting one-on-one meetings and providing mentorship.
  • Strong experience in payroll management, particularly in processing payroll for organizations with 900 employees or fewer.
  • Experience with implementing and streamlining payroll systems and audits is strongly preferred.
  • Expertise in managing complex payroll systems and adaptability in learning new systems (experience with UKG, Paylocity, ADP, Paycor, etc., is a plus).
  • In-depth knowledge of payroll tax regulations and requirements.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred but not required.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
