Engineering Assistant

We have partnered with a global leader in the telecom manufacturing and distributing world who is looking for an Assistant with 1-2 years of manufacturing or engineering experience to join their team.

$25/hr with a schedule of 8am – 5pm Mon-Fri

An engineering assistant provides support to the engineering team on a variety of projects. As an engineering assistant, your job duties include read and interpret customer drawing specifications, conducting a wide range of research, performing various environmental and product performance tests, modifying technical documents such as work instructions, assist quality control with first article inspections, provide timely updates on various projects and drive them to completion Additional responsibilities are to help project engineers design, develop, evaluate, and troubleshoot to accomplish project goals. You will be working as part of a team in a lab or workshop environment, so a commitment to safety and compliance with regulations is important. Good collaboration and communication skills are very important for this role as you will work with a large team on some projects. Duties can vary widely from day to day.

Responsibilities:

  • Organize, manage, and oversee engineering and technical projects.
  • Owner of project tracker. Need to provide weekly updates to rest of the team based on previous weeks action items
  • Increase customer satisfaction by identifying systems modernization opportunities, punctual service needs, and any potential sale
  • Prepare NPRF forms using supplier quotes from Procurement
  • Audit part set-up once the NPRF is executed
  • Participate in product qualification and testing activities for new and existing parts
  • Part of DFMEA team to review customer drawings
  • Audit company website and recommend updates and corrections
  • Assist engineering with ECN process and drive it to completion
  • Making sure ECNs are communicated to customers and/or suppliers via appropriate channels before closing them
  • Audit database and make corrections based on info from production team or quality technician
  • Update packaging data in a timely manner by coordinating quarterly packaging review with vendors
  • Assist QA with additional random inspections
  • Assist engineering with labelling needs
  • Review and update PR sheets to match the current catalog and website theme
  • Catalog updates (with good product images)
  • Create and/or review product life cycle documents working with our supply base
  • Assist with vault database migration (maybe 10-15% of workday)

Qualifications & Skills:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
  • MS Office (required)
  • Good project management skills
  • Able to prioritize various projects independently
  • Knowledge of ASTM Fastener Standards (preferred)
  • Knowledge of ISO Standards (preferred)
  • Lean / Six Sigma experience (preferred)
