Vice President of Philanthropy

Reporting to the Managing Director, Philanthropy, the Senior Director, Philanthropy, will provide leadership to the New England Major Giving team to drive fundraising success;

Identify, cultivate, and solicit new and existing high net worth individuals for the major donor program; and serve as a philanthropy contact for the New England regional board and committees.

Key Responsibilities / Outcomes (include but are not limited to) :

Leadership and Management :
• Lead and supervise a team of major giving team members; collaborate with the Prospect Development team on portfolio management and performance for each frontline fundraiser on the team
• Lead on major gift and event strategy alignment in the New England market; advise and collaborate with the Special Events team on the planning and execution of major donor fundraising events and activities
• Serve as a philanthropy contact and thought partner for the regional board of directors’ major gift efforts in New England, in collaboration the Philanthropy Advancement team
• Collaborate with Marketing and Communications to support establishment of a public presence through local media visibility and events

Major Giving Strategy and Results :
• Responsible for meeting individual and team KPIs, which include the annual fundraising goal, multi-year commitments, meaningful interactions, integrated asks, asks at level, and face-to-face meetings
• Manage a portfolio of 70 high net worth donors and prospects in the New England area to generate significant financial support 
• Develop and execute detailed strategies for top donors and prospects in the region; secure six- and seven- figure gifts, multi-year gifts, and blended gifts
• Shape and edit donor correspondences such as letters, emails, funding proposals, and reports
• Maintain accurate records of donor outreach and solicitation plans through regular upkeep of donor database
• Special projects and other responsibilities as needed

Qualifications :
• Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 8-12 years’ relevant work experience, with at least 6-8 years of frontline major gifts fundraising experience and proven track record of securing six- and seven-figure gifts
• Must be a self-motivated professional with a proven success record in fundraising
• Must have significant experience managing frontline fundraisers
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential, both written and verbal
• Strong computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and have strong experience using a fundraising database
• Keen attention to detail, flexibility in high-pressure situations and the willingness to assist with all tasks needed to ensure the success of a small regional team
• Ability to effectively lead internal and external meetings
• Must possess a strong work ethic, have confidence, take initiative and be an enthusiastic team player
• Must share a strong commitment to international humanitarian relief and development and passionately embrace the mission 
• Must be willing to travel domestically and occasionally internationally
