Payroll Analyst

The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for ensuring timely and accurate payroll processing across the company. The role involves handling employee payroll data, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, addressing payroll discrepancies, and collaborating with other departments to ensure smooth payroll operations. 

The Day-to-Day

  • Payroll Processing: Process multi-state weekly payroll in Paylocity for over 650 employees both salaried and hourly, ensuring timely and accurate payroll submission.
  • Compliance: Stay up to date with changes in labor laws, payroll tax laws, and ensure payroll practices are compliant with all applicable regulations, including local, state and federal tax laws.
  • Data Management: Maintain accurate payroll records, including employee data, time and attendance, deductions, bonuses, and benefits. Enter and update payroll information in the HRIS system.
  • Deductions: Handle all deductions including taxes, benefits, retirement, and garnishments.
  • Reporting: Prepare regular payroll reports for management, including payroll summaries, tax reports, and custom reports as needed. Distribute weekly temporary employee hours reports to external agencies.
  • Audit Support and State and Federal Reporting: Assist in internal and external payroll audits as necessary. Monitor and respond to state unemployment claims in a timely manner. Prepare and complete wage analysis reports for workers comp and employee wage verifications.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with HR, Finance teams and department Managers to ensure accuracy of updating employee data, including new hire information, terminations, promotions, wages, and other changes including employee status changes.
  • Employee Support: Address and resolve employee inquiries regarding payroll issues, tax withholding, and deductions. Provide support in onboarding employees into the payroll system.
  • Other Duties: Collaborate with HR and Finance departments on reporting and reconciliation. Assist in implementing process improvements for payroll systems. Support other HR-related tasks as needed.

What We’re Looking For

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience processing and administering payroll.
  • Familiarity with HRIS and payroll software (ADP WorkforceNow)
  • Strong understanding of payroll processes, tax regulations, and wage laws.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
