We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Electronics / Electrical Technician to troubleshoot and repair surface mount and through-hole printed circuit board assemblies (PCBs) used in our fire detection products. This role plays a critical role in ensuring the quality and functionality of our life-saving products.
Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and diagnose electronic and electrical failures on surface mount and through-hole PCBs using advanced troubleshooting techniques and test equipment.
  • Trace back functional test failure codes through the functional test system manual back to the Product Test Specification and product schematic to better understand the failure.
  • Perform functional testing for production boards, and ensure they meet overall quality requirements
  • Perform surface mount and through hole repairs to defective PCBs, including soldering, desoldering, and component repair and replacement, following established procedures and IPC 610 quality standards.
  • Conduct production preventative maintenance on test equipment where required and ensure proper calibration of equipment?
  • Maintain accurate documentation of troubleshooting procedures, repairs performed, and test results for future troubleshooting aides.
  • Assist with the development and improvement of troubleshooting processes.
  • Work collaboratively with Design Engineering, Test Engineering, Process Engineering and production personnel to identify and address potential quality issues with PCBs.
  • Assist Supplier Quality team with root cause analysis of boards when troubleshooting for possible returns / corrective actions back to the supplier.
  • Contribute to a safe and efficient work environment by adhering to all EH&S safety protocols and procedures.
  • Follow all antistatic precautions as required.

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree in Electronics Engineering Technology or a related field (preferred) or minimum of 2 years of experience in electronics repair.
  • Proven experience in troubleshooting and repairing surface mount and through-hole PCBs.
  • Proficiency in soldering and desoldering techniques.
  • Strong understanding of electrical schematics and component functionality.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • Familiarity with fire detection panel systems (a plus).
