- Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday 8am – 4:30pm
- Thursdays 8am – 6pm
- Friday 8am – 3pm
- Possible rotating Saturdays 8am – 2pm
Job Purpose
Supports dentist in primary dental care, prepares equipment/ operatory for dental procedures, contributes to supportive atmosphere for dental patients. Uses chairside, four handed dentistry techniques and confirms appointment and assists the dentist with follow-up care and care coordination. Takes guidance from Lead Dental Assistant. Cross train at reception area to assist as needed.
Duties and Responsibilities
Clinical:
- Prepares office and treatment areas each day in accordance with policy. Performs pre and post treatment setup/cleanup procedures for each patient according to the Center’s protocols.
- Prepares patients for dental procedures. Assists dentist at chairside, using 4-handed techniques.
- Performs independent patient services, as directed, including patient triage, digital radiographs, and impressions.
- Maintains adequate inventory of dental supplies and stocks operatory daily
- Strictly follows all safety and infection control standards at all times.
- Takes quality digital radiographs, as prescribed. Observe radiation safety standards for staff and patients.
- Maintains and monitors laboratory procedures and cases.
- Confirms appointments for the dentist ahead of time. Assists the dentist with following up on patients and help with care coordination.
- Addresses telephone encounters and referrals daily.
- Performs Autoclave Sterilization Procedures every day following our policy based on infection control standards at all times:
- Central processing area or “sterilization room”
- Instrument processing and sterilizing
- Hand piece sterilization procedure:
- Sterilization Room Cleaning and Maintenance
- Complies with all infection control policies and procedures outlined by the organization in accordance with professional, state, and federal guidelines.
- Accepts guidance from the Dental Lead and reports to Dental Director as needed.
Administrative:
- Demonstrates respect and dignity for patients and staff at all times. Works as an effective team member to promote efficient patient care for maximum productivity.
- Performs registration function in accordance with Center policy.
- Updates sliding fee scale annually for each patient.
- Computer Smart forms and PREPARE.
- Updates insurance and assists with copays, collections, and prior authorizations.
- Other duties as assigned by management
Qualifications
Education:
- Graduate of Accredited Dental Assisting School
- Certified in Dental Radiology by DANB
- ICE Certified
Skills:
- Prefer 3+ years dental experience in general dentistry
- Commitment to preventative care
- Knowledge/interest in providing care to diverse patient population
- Bilingual (Spanish), desirable
- Communication skills (verbal and written)
- Listening skills/follows direction
- Reliable Transportation to travel from site to site
- Knowledgeable about instruments, materials and techniques used for all procedures.
