Schedule: 4x10s, rotating weekends

Requirements: 

  • New Jersey RN License – open to new grads!
  • ACLS/BLS Certification
  • Experience with NextGen preferred but not required
  • IV Certification and Telemetry Course required before start

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the planning, executing, directing, and evaluating the clinical care given to the surgical patient in the operating room
  • Will have contact with the patient in each phase of the endoscopy experience
  • Responsibility includes the preparation, assembly, and organization of the environment, equipment, and supplies necessary
  • Supervises nursing activities related to patient care and set standards for accurate reporting and recording of patient symptoms, reactions, and progress
  • Provides input and standards in formulating patient care policy and procedures for the center
  • Works with the medical staff to coordinate medical and nursing management of patient care
  • Assists in maintaining an adequate inventory of supplies, drugs, and equipment
  • Communicates with patient, family, and health professionals regarding care
  • Serves as a resource in areas of expertise to other staff members
  • May help admit patients if schedule allows
  • Checks signed consent prior to beginning case
  • At the beginning of the day, checks to see that necessary supplies required by the day’s procedures schedule are available in the OR
  • Assists Endo Tech with supplies for case
  • Prepares patient for procedure by verifying patient identity and scheduled procedure, and assists patient into OR
  • Helps to relieve patient’s apprehension before and during administration of conscious sedation
  • Makes available additional instruments and supplies as requested during the operation
  • During conscious sedation cases, record vitals and gives medications as order by physician
  • Documents and labels specimens clearly and correctly
  • Assists in transferring patient to PACU
  • Ensures that supplies for each case are ready for use
  • Maintains a safe environment in OR during procedure
  • Assists in cleaning of room after a case
  • Assists with post-op call to patient and documents call and patient’s responses on patient’s record
  • Takes inventory and restock supplies as needed in OR
  • Performs functions in the instrument processing system
  • Assists with nursing functions in other clinical areas
  • Helps clean OR and assists with room turnover at the end of each case
  • Shares responsibility with the Endo Tech for ensuring that supplies for each case have been collected and readied for the days schedule
  • Other duties may be assigned
