General Description:
Recruit, screen, evaluate, certify and recertify foster homes for consideration by the agency.  Includes internal support within Foster Care department of fellow workers and Program Directors and outside support services to foster families.

Responsibilities:

  • Inform and prepare applicants as to the expectations and responsibilities of foster/adoptive parents as set forth in State, City, and agency regulations
  • Conduct in-depth interviews with all household members regarding motivation, parenting capacities, personal background, and current family functioning
  • Collect written collateral data such as school, employment, and personal references, and any other information, from outside sources as needed
  • Assess and evaluate the above gathered data and make a recommendation for certification or rejection.
  • Assess and evaluate homes for recertification as necessary
  • Conduct outreach recruitment efforts
  • Maintain effective collaborative relationships with other foster youth serving agencies
  • Create reports for internal and external use
  • Coordinate with case managers, clinicians and other staff regarding placement decisions
  • Participate in meetings and share meeting responsibilities, internally for department and externally with providers
  • Demonstrates cultural competence and behaviors consistent with the core values, vision and mission of NCYF
  • Maintain confidentiality of client, collateral, provider, and staff information
  • Analyze situations, identify problems, identify and evaluate alternative courses of action
  • Plan and organize work effectively and ensure its completion
  • Use discretion and individual judgment with agency, client and collateral issues
  • Responsibly, accurately, and completely document all actions
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree; licensed (LCSW, LSW or LSWA) or license-eligible.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required certifications and licenses, including but not limited to CPR/First Aid.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general accounting and business periodicals, professional journals and reports, technical procedures and government regulations.
  • Knowledgeable about office programs ie: word processing, spreadsheets, accounting programs, payroll systems and the like.
  • Ability to reason and solve practical problems, deal with variety of concrete variables and interpret instructions furnished in various formats.
