Physician Assistant

Schedule: Full time – 4x10s or 3x12s
Location: Will travel to all hospitals/surgery centers
Pay: 100k-135k, depending on experience, with sign on and quarterly bonuses

    Divide into assigned surgical or floor roles for the day
    Surgical PAs to OR and Floor PAs will commence hospital rounding

Responsibilities:

  • Rounding on elective surgical patients
  • Performing ER and floor consults
  • Documenting consults, H&Ps, consults, discharge summaries and discharge instructions
  • Placing inpatient orders, admission orders, and discharge orders
  • Communicating with surgeons, hospitalists, nursing staff, and other consulting specialists about patients
  • Ordering and review of imaging studies and laboratory studies
  • Obtaining consent and prepping patients for surgery
  • Bedside procedures:
  • Splint/casting
  • Fracture/joint reduction
  • Joint aspirations/injections
  • Dressing changes/wound care
  • Wound VAC application
  • Drain removals
  • Surgical first assist (total joints, spine, foot/ankle, sports medicine, trauma)
  • Surgical wound closure
  • Drain placement
  • DME application (slings, knee braces, etc.)

    Requirements:

    • National Commission on Certification of Physician’s Assistants (NCCPA) certification.
    • Maintenance of NCCPA certification through 100 CME hours every 2 years.
    • Maintenance of Physician’s Assistant license, DEA and Controlled Substance Certificate in the State of Connecticut.
    • Credentialed and active clinical privileges with hospitals and surgery centers if applicable.
    • Surgical experience preferred.
    • Must be able to stand in Operating room for up to 10 hours and provide required strength to assist with patient surgical and office procedures.
    • Maintain confidentiality complying with all HIPPA and OP requirements.
    • Excellent communication skills with ability to relate well with patients and coworkers.
    • Excellent initiative, willingness to perform all duties necessary to expedite surgical room turnover and efficient office patient flow.
