X-Ray Tech – Pain Management/Orthopedic office 

Position Summary
The X-Ray Technologist uses medical imaging equipment to produce high quality images to be used by physicians, assist physicians as needed and assists in patient care and administrative duties in the office daily.

Location: Linden, NJ office
Pay: starting $34 – $44/hr ($70,720 – $89,440)
Schedule: Monday to Friday, hours between 8a -6p (40HPW)
Anticipated schedule:

  • Mon:  8a-4.30p, Clark
  • Tues:  10a-6p, Linden
  • Wed: 10a-6p, Linden
  • Thurs: 10a-6p, Linden
  • Fri:  8a-12p, Linden / 12-4p, Union

Requirements:

Critical Skills & Attributes

  • Academic/Technical Qualifications
  • Current X-Ray Certification
  • Current NJDEP license
  • Graduation from an accredited X-Ray Technologist program
  • Working knowledge of current radiology practices
  • College education or trade school preferred
  • Computer literate
    Industry Experience

    • Prefer one (1) year of current work experience as a radiologic technologist
    • Experience using C-Arm in an operating/procedure room setting is a plus
    • Knowledge of HIPAA & OSHA guidelines
    • Working knowledge of medical practice management systems and electronic medical records
    • Basic knowledge of computers and medical terminology is mandatory
    • Bilingual Spanish highly preferred
    • Ability to work well with Physicians, employees, patients, and others

    Key Responsibilities:

    RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
    • Produces high quality patient X-Ray films by applying knowledge of X-Ray techniques (in office and procedure room/surgical setting) on both office X-Ray equipment and C-arm
    • Calibrates equipment to ensure accurate results, reports equipment failures in a timely manner, addresses and reports safety concerns in a timely manner; performs filing, mailing and purging duties of films, test results; schedules annual X-Ray maintenance and yearly checks; maintains, monitors and orders X-Ray/medical supplies as needed
    • Keeps Quality Control Log up to date with required documentation
    • Reviews patient chart and doctor’s notes prior to performing exams; enters/updates patient information in the EHR, maintains daily record of completed X-Rays, and records in appropriate patient charts
    • Prepares examination rooms for patient exams & equipment for use and assists patients in and out of medical office exam rooms or procedure room area in an efficient manner
    • Explains procedures to patients and answer patient questions; monitors patients during exams; positions patients for imaging exams by physically lifting and placing patients on table with co-worker assistance as required; ensures safety of patients during exams and provides patients with protective wear to reduce radiation exposure.
    • Perform treatment room maintenance after each patient including: disposing of medical waste as required by OSHA, cleaning and sanitizing equipment, changing table paper and pillow cases, providing clean gowns for patients and placing used gowns in appropriate container for laundering; stocks patient rooms, as needed
    • Assists physicians with applying and removing casts and stitches as directed
    Additional Responsibilities may include:
    • Filling rooms, completes patient intake process and obtains history prior to Provider entering room
    • Maintaining office supplies list
    • Maintaining DME equipment list
    • Helping with EMG maintenance and system updates when needed
    • Answering phone calls; takes and follows through with messages; makes appointments including collecting all appropriate data for appointment
    • Obtaining prior authorization for all medication; sets up injectable medication and documents the injection
    • Fitting DMEs and dispenses using the Breg Vision system
    • Assisting in sharps pick-up; packs container(s) for driver as needed
    • Assisting Check-In to maintain flow of office
    • Maintaining patient records, documents information with computers, and maintains strict confidentiality of patient imaging results in accordance with company policy & procedure, and HIPAA & compliance guidelines
    • Maintaining regular attendance and attends all regular staff meetings and continuing education sessions as required
    • Presenting professional image in manner, appearance, motivation and work habits and demonstrates excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills
    • Performing other duties, as assigned

    Physical Requirements

    • Prolonged periods standing, reaching and bending.
    • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
    • Physical strength and agility to position patients for a variety of diagnostic examinations
