Job Description: Logistics- Shipping/Receiving Manager
Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Shipping/Receiving Manager to oversee and optimize our logistics operations.. This role involves planning, coordinating, and managing the transportation and storage of goods, ensuring efficient delivery to customers, and maintaining compliance with industry regulations. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in logistics management, exceptional organizational skills, and a strong ability to lead and mentor a dynamic team.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Logistics Manager or in a similar role.
  • Familiarity with Strong knowledge of logistics, warehouse operations, and supply chain management.
  • Familiarity with industry regulations and compliance standards.
  • Experience with hazardous materials and/or willingness to attain DOT/IATA/IMDG certifications.
  • Proficiency in logistics software and systems such as JD Edwards and DSI.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal abilities.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred).

 


Key Responsibilities:
1. Logistics Operations Management:

  • Plan and oversee logistics operations for receiving and sending shipments.
  • Manage the transportation of goods, including scheduling and route optimization.
  • Coordinate with production departments to ensure timely shipment of inventory.

2. Shipping and Vendor Coordination:

  • Arrange for shipping services and build strong relationships with carriers and other delivery partners.
  • Establish and maintain partnerships with third-party logistics providers.

3. Warehouse and Facility Oversight:

  • Oversee warehouse management, ensuring proper handling of all incoming and outgoing shipments.
  • Ensure warehouse facilities are clean, secure, and well-maintained to support efficient operations.
  • Manage inventory levels and ensure the availability of necessary supplies.

4. Regulatory Compliance:

  • Stay updated on regulations and laws applicable to the transportation and logistics industry.
  • Develop and implement policies to ensure compliance and improve logistics operations.
  • Maintain strict adherence to all Hazardous Materials Regulations (HMR) and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
  • Ensure proper classification, packaging, labeling, and documentation of all hazardous materials shipments.
  • Partner with EH&S to conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify and address potential hazards.
  • Maintain safety programs and procedures related to the handling of hazardous and pressurized materials.

5. Process Optimization:

  • Use resources effectively to enhance fleet performance and operational efficiency.
  • Identify and implement methods to improve logistics procedures, such as optimizing warehouse space utilization and enhancing packaging strategies.

6. Technology and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate records of daily logistics activities.
  • Utilize data to develop actionable insights and drive continuous improvement.

7. Staff Development and Leadership:

  • Develop training programs to enhance staff skills in logistics management functions.
  • Coach, mentor, and supervise team members.
  • Promote a culture of safety, efficiency, and teamwork within the logistics team.
