Family Nurse Practitioner (Addiction Medicine)

Position Summary
Provide Medication for Addiction Treatment and Bridge clinic coverage to those being served through the buprenorphine service. Provide admission physical exams and orders for patients entering the detox service and residential substance use treatment unit.
Provide primary health care, education, and clinical functions consistent with the Family Nurse Practitioner specialty according to the regulations as indicated on Scope of Practice signed by the Medical Director.

Location: Fall River, MA
Schedule: Full time, Monday to Friday (32 – 40 HPW)

  • 8 hour shifts
  • flexible with schedules (8-4, 9-5 type)
  • 5 days a week, onsite
  • would be open to 4 days a week for the right person

Salary: $110k -$130k dependent on experience

Qualifications:

  • Current licensure to practice as a registered nurse in Massachusetts.
  • National certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner.
  • Massachusetts’s licensure to practice in the expanded nursing role.
  • Possess or obtain prescription privileges in Massachusetts.
  • Certified in Basic Life Support (CPR).
  • Must be seasoned with addition treatment and be comfortable prescribing medications:
    • Buprenorphine (Suboxone, Zubsolv, Sublocade) 
    • Naltrexone
  • Will not consider a Psych NP for this role as they will need to perform physicals
  • DEA licensure – needs to either currently possess or obtain upon hire
  • Bilingual Spanish/Portuguese is highly preferred

Essential Duties:

  • Provide addiction services and health care screening and treatment to individuals who present at the Health Care Center, according to the regulations consistent with policy requirements.
  • Facilitates patient treatment for the MAT and Bridge service including prescription management.
  • Documents visits and all telephone or verbal contacts in patient’s charts.
  • Reviews initial and follow-up of labs and diagnostic tests.
  • Provide health care based on clinical protocols consistent with best practices.
  • Delivers patient care for admission physicals and orders for admission to the inpatient detox service.
  • Offers follow-up care, monitors patient progress, and adjusts treatment plans as needed to enhance outcomes.
  • Attends Health Center/Inpatient staff and provider meetings as indicated.
  • This independent practitioner attends appropriate meetings with the MAT staff for all addiction services coordinated in the OBAT.
  • Consults and refers to Health Center providers, other providers, and specialists as needed to provide optimal care.
  • Participate in an evening/weekend on-call rotation approximately every 6 weeks.
  • Attend conferences and training that reflect clinic practice.
  • Other duties as required.
