ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assists in the underwriting premiums by preparing and maintaining spreadsheets
containing relevant enrollment, claims and related data.
• Monitors and analyzes claim trends.
• Prepares and ensures accuracy and consistency of renewal documents and communications.
• Prepares charts, tables, and graphs for internal and external use.
• Prepares data in a suitable format for transmission to Employee Benefits Programs
consultants, actuaries, underwriters, and third-party insurance providers.
• Conducts appropriate research to find solutions for and provide information to internal and
external stakeholders.
• Monitors and analyzes Healthcare Reform developments and other legal requirements at
both the Federal and State levels; ensures that our Member entities are compliant with and
updated on the requirements of the Affordable Care Act and the Consolidated Appropriations
Act.
• Interacts with and responds to questions from Member entity officials and from individual
subscribers; conducts appropriate research to find answers, provide information, and resolve
problems or issues.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in mathematics, actuarial science, finance or business
administration
• A minimum of five years’ experience in the healthcare industry required, specifically in
underwriting, and must possess strong analytical skills
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS
• Knowledgeable about employee benefits programs, specifically, health and dental
insurance underwriting, and benefit administration
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong time management skills
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Comfortable performing a wide variety of tasks in a changing, evolving work environment
