Our client, a private, non-profit, W/NPO certified organization based in Watertown, MA, seeks a Chief Financial Officer for an immediate opening in its main office. The prospective candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment that puts a premium on teamwork. This position presents a qualified financial professional with the unique opportunity to join an established team within our Finance Division. The ideal candidate must have experience working in the non-profit sector, have practical knowledge of all aspects of the Department of Developmental Services (DDS)/EOHHS financial operations, associated budgets, and reporting systems and have a proven supervisory background.

The Chief Financial Officer will:

  • Direct all financial operations for the organization
  • Supervise AP/AR and other financial personnel
  • Assist in the preparation of all necessary regulatory filings including Annual Reports, Forms 1099 and 990, etc.
  • Reconcile all financial activity between accounting systems and other databases (such as Microsoft Dynamics, ComBuys, EIM, and Paycom Payroll Interface)
  • Monitor financial processes, compliance, and accounting
  • Coordinate all aspects of general accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, disbursements, billings and receivables, account and bank reconciliations, payroll coordination and audit preparation
  • Maintain all general ledger accounts, conduct monthly and year end closing procedures, and prepare monthly financial forecasts
  • Review cash flow to ensure funds are available to meet organization-wide operating needs
  • Manage the organization’s fixed assets
  • Develop and lead a range of project implementations for the Finance Department.
  • Work closely with the Executive Team to define, scope, estimate and price all project implementations
  • Develop and complete the annual budget including spreadsheets for budget utilization
  • Coordinate with the Executive Team in preparing final spreadsheets for Board meetings regarding the budget
  • Develop, implement, and communicate business and fiscal policies and procedures
  • Ensure the Agency’s compliance with federal, state, and local regulations regarding filings, charitable solicitations, and non-profit tax-exempt status
  • Maintain relationships and appropriate documentation with banks, brokerage firms, investment managers and other financial institutions
  • Prepare monthly reports for the Executive Director and Board of Directors
  • Educate all relevant personnel on the financial policies, procedures and requirements of the agency
  • Carry out special projects for the Executive Director as requested

Qualifications:

  • B.A. in Accounting, Finance, or another related field (master’s degree preferred)
  • Strong analytical and data collection skills
  • Working knowledge of DDS/EOHHS contract processes and billing procedures
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Minimum 10 years of Non-Profit Finance experience in a CFO or similar role
  • Diligence, productivity, and intrinsic motivation

Pay: $160,000.00 per year
