SR Accountant

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant to support the month-end close process, financial reporting, and general ledger operations. This role requires a strong background in manufacturing accounting, cost accounting, and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, preferably SAP. The ideal candidate will be analytical, process-driven, and comfortable working cross-functionally with operations, procurement, and finance teams.


Key Responsibilities

General Accounting & Financial Reporting

  • Prepare and post journal entries for month-end and year-end close activities.

  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations and maintain supporting schedules.

  • Assist in the preparation of internal and external financial statements in accordance with GAAP.

  • Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and ensure accuracy of all transactions.

Cost & Inventory Accounting

  • Support product costing and inventory valuation in a manufacturing environment.

  • Analyze standard costs and variances (material, labor, overhead).

  • Reconcile inventory and perform cycle count adjustments.

  • Work closely with operations and supply chain teams to align financial records with production activity.

ERP & Systems Support

  • Utilize SAP or similar ERP system to process transactions, extract data, and generate reports.

  • Participate in ERP data integrity checks and troubleshoot transactional errors.

  • Support process improvements and system upgrades related to finance modules.

Compliance & Controls

  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and accounting standards.

  • Assist with internal and external audits by providing documentation and analysis.

Other Duties

  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis processes.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams for financial planning and operational efficiency.

  • Provide mentorship to junior accounting staff as needed.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or CMA preferred).

  • Minimum of 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in a manufacturing setting.

  • Strong knowledge of cost accounting and inventory controls.

  • Proficient withERP systems (SAP preferred) and Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, etc.).

  • Solid understanding of US GAAP and internal control frameworks.

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.


Preferred Experience

  • Experience with manufacturing KPIs and variance analysis.

  • Exposure to lean manufacturing or Six Sigma environments.

  • Participation in ERP implementations or process optimization projects.
