Medical Assistant
Family Practice!
Pay: $20-23/hour
Schedule: Monday through Friday 8:30AM – 5PM
One evening until 6:30PM, roughly every other week
One Saturday 9:00AM – 12:00PM, every 9-weeks
Requirements:
- 2+ years of Medical Assistant experience
- Experience with administering vaccines and performing venipuncture is required
- EMR experience required (practice uses Epic)
- BLS/CPR Certification
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for assisting physicians with patient care, clinical, environmental, and organizational tasks
- Responsible for appointment scheduling and chart management
- Provides information to patients so they may fully utilize and benefit from the clinic services
- Conveys a positive image of clinic
- Checking schedules and organizing patient flow
- Accompanying patients to exam/procedure room and assisting patients as needed with walking, transfers, dressing
- Performing venipuncture and collecting specimens
- Preparing for exam by collecting patient history and performing screenings per provider guidelines
- Assisting physicians/nurse practitioner with various procedures and charting
- Relaying instructions to patients/families
- Answering calls and providing pertinent information
- Assisting with prescription refills
- Assisting with prior authorization and referral for services ordered and prescription fills/refills
- Sending and receiving patient medical records
- Obtaining and communicating lab and x-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information
- Completing forms and requisitions as needed
- Scheduling appointments, verifying patient demographics, and managing charts to ensure information is completed and filed appropriately
- Setting up instruments and equipment according to practice protocol
- Cleaning exam and procedure rooms, instruments, and equipment between patient visits to maintain infection control
- Cleaning sterilizer according to scheduled maintenance program and keeping appropriate records
- Ordering, sorting, storing supplies and restocking exam and procedure rooms
- Assisting with the ordering of clinical/medical supplies and equipment as needed
- Respecting and promoting patient rights
- Responding appropriately to emergency codes
- Sharing problems relating to patients and/or staff with immediate supervisors quickly
- Assisting with participation in pay for performance programs
- Basic knowledge of Quality Assurance and Category II reporting which includes Health Maintenance Alerts
- Comply with the practices policies and local, state, and federal regulations such as OSHA, HIPAA, Employee Handbook, and the Practice’s Policies and Procedures
