Key responsibilities
- Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes, including preparing and posting journal entries and reconciling balance sheet and general ledger accounts.
- Prepare timely and accurate financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies.
- Analyze financial data and produce reports on financial status, explaining variances and providing recommendations to optimize financial performance.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
- Coordinate and support internal and external audits, including preparing schedules and liaising with auditors.
- Supervise, mentor, and provide guidance to junior accounting staff, reviewing their work for accuracy.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement new procedures to enhance efficiency and internal controls.
- Ensure timely and accurate tax compliance and assist with tax return preparations.
Required qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 4+ years of progressive experience in accounting.
- Thorough knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUPs).
- Hands-on experience with QuickBooks.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- High level of accuracy and meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred qualifications
- CPA certification or actively pursuing.
- Experience with construction industry, tradeshow specific a plus.
- Experience with a multi-entity setting.
