Senior Accountant

Key responsibilities

  • Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes, including preparing and posting journal entries and reconciling balance sheet and general ledger accounts.
  • Prepare timely and accurate financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies.
  • Analyze financial data and produce reports on financial status, explaining variances and providing recommendations to optimize financial performance.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
  • Coordinate and support internal and external audits, including preparing schedules and liaising with auditors.
  • Supervise, mentor, and provide guidance to junior accounting staff, reviewing their work for accuracy.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement new procedures to enhance efficiency and internal controls.
  • Ensure timely and accurate tax compliance and assist with tax return preparations.

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 4+ years of progressive experience in accounting.
  • Thorough knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUPs).
  • Hands-on experience with QuickBooks.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • High level of accuracy and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred qualifications

  • CPA certification or actively pursuing.
  • Experience with construction industry, tradeshow specific a plus.
  • Experience with a multi-entity setting.
