Location: Southeastern Massachusetts / Island Location

We are looking for a dedicated and skilled Superintendent to oversee our upcoming projects in a unique, island-based location, with travel required from the mainland.

A Day in the Life of a Superintendent

As a Superintendent, you are a critical part of our field operations team. You have a high degree of impact on projects, overseeing them from initial kick-off through completion to ensure work is done safely and efficiently. You excel at seeing the big picture while also paying attention to the specific details that others might miss. Your team looks to you for key decisions, guidance, and motivation.
You will manage the day-to-day operational aspects of projects, including executing work plans, enforcing project standards, identifying necessary resources, assigning responsibilities, scheduling, and mitigating risk. Your role is to be the primary liaison between the project manager and the field staff, ensuring that projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. You take ownership of ensuring all projects are completed safely and in compliance with contract documents.
This role requires a high level of responsibility and visibility. You will review and analyze preliminary project documentation, including subcontracts and purchase orders. Your problem-solving skills will be essential for addressing any unforeseen obstacles that arise. By setting productivity expectations and enforcing project standards, you contribute to a positive and efficient work culture. You will also be involved in project budgeting, working with project managers to find the most cost-effective practices and materials.


Qualifications

  • A High School diploma and at least 10 years of experience in heavy civil construction, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of materials, methods, and tools involved in the construction of highways, roads, and site work.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction plans, and contracts.
  • General knowledge of construction survey terminology and a basic understanding of GPS survey equipment and machine control.
  • Proven leadership skills and the ability to delegate work effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • OSHA 10 certification, first aid/CPR certification, or the ability to obtain them.
