Led by a seasoned CEO with a background in entrepreneurship and top-tier consulting, the company is seeking a strategic, proactive Controller to join the leadership team and build the financial foundation for rapid scaling from $200M to over $1B in revenue. Reporting directly to the CFO, the Controller will design scalable systems, drive process improvements, and ensure accounting capabilities support frequent acquisitions and integrations—ideal for someone passionate about creating robust finance frameworks in a high-growth, acquisition-driven environment.
Essential Functions, Duties/Responsibilities:
- Design and implement scalable accounting infrastructure, systems, and controls to support expansion from $200M to over $1B in revenue.
- Lead, improve, and automate monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes for accuracy, timeliness, and GAAP compliance.
- Create and provide financial reporting packages for the executive team, Board, and lenders.
- Collaborate with the CFO and M&A team on due diligence, acquisition accounting, and post-closing financial integration.
- Manage the transition of acquired entities from basic accounting software to advanced ERP systems and standardize processes across the organization.
- Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing accounting and finance team (including offshore resources) to support an acquisition-focused business.
- Oversee and manage cash flow, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and all transactional accounting activities.
- Act as a strategic advisor to the finance team on budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning.
- Handle annual audits and tax processes working with external advisors.
Key Requirements:
- CPA required; undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance (Master’s or MBA preferred).
- 8–10+ years in accounting/finance, including 5+ years as Controller in a high-growth, multi-entity, acquisitive organization ($300M+ revenue preferred).
- Proven expertise in U.S. GAAP, consolidations, intercompany accounting, internal controls, due diligence, purchase accounting, and post-close integrations.
- Hands-on experience implementing and optimizing ERP systems (e.g., Sage Intacct, QuickBooks, Planful, Service Titan) and management dashboards.
- Entrepreneurial mindset: Thrives in fast-paced environments, embraces change, and builds scalable teams and processes.
- Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills: Ability to mentor teams, influence stakeholders, and drive results across small business partners, platform management, and investors—hands-on and ego-free.
Hybrid Work:
- The person in this seat will be required to be onsite in Boston every Tuesday as well as every other Thursday (roughly 6 days per month).
