Summary: The Shipping Clerk is responsible for preparing, coordinating, and processing outgoing shipments in an efficient, accurate, and timely manner. This position plays a key role in ensuring that all products are packed, labeled, and shipped according to company standards and customer requirements.
Essential Duties:
- Prepare and process shipping documentation, including bills of lading, packing lists, and labels.
- Coordinate with carriers, freight companies, and internal departments to schedule pickups and ensure timely deliveries.
- Verify shipment details for accuracy, including part numbers, quantities, and addresses.
- Use computer systems to enter shipping data, track shipments, and maintain records.
- Answer phones and communicate effectively with internal departments and external contacts.
- Maintain a clean and organized shipping area to promote safety and efficiency.
- Assist in loading and unloading trucks as needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Previous shipping, receiving, or dispatch experience required.
- Proficient with computers and able to learn shipping software and ERP systems.
- Strong communication skills and ability to speak and understand English clearly.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented with strong follow-through.
- Ability to multitask and work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Reliable and dependable with good attendance record.
- Past leadership or team lead experience is a plus but not required.
Education and Certifications:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- A minimum of 2 years shipping /receiving work experience required; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Federal Express shipping certification preferred.
