The Vice President of Retail Operations will lead the coordination, optimization, and standardization of operational practices across all current and future retail locations. This executive-level role is critical to driving customer satisfaction, maximizing operational efficiency, and scaling the business for long-term growth.
The ideal candidate is a strategic operator who thrives in fast-paced, multi-unit environments, with a strong focus on team leadership, operational excellence, and cross-functional collaboration. This individual will work closely with ownership and senior leadership to develop and execute plans that enhance employee performance, improve store-level execution, and ensure alignment with overall business objectives.
Regular in-store presence is essential, as is a data-informed approach to identifying opportunities and implementing continuous improvements. The VP of Retail Store Operations will also play a key leadership role in expansion efforts—including new builds and competitor acquisitions—ensuring consistency in brand standards and operational integrity across all locations and markets.
Education and Experience
• 10+ years of experience in retail strategy, operations, and consumer-facing roles.
• 10+ years of experience building, scaling, and driving successful teams.
• 10+ years of industry-related experience in a senior operations management role required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Management or related field required.
Essential Functions
• Develop and adapt a strategy of best-practice standards and policies for each store, and ensuring that all staff are trained, familiar and adhering to such standards and policies.
• Provide clear, motivating, and consistent communication at both strategic and tactical levels to guide retail associates, store managers, and regional leaders in effectively implementing new field programs and execution standards across training, merchandising, assisted selling, customer experience, and product launches.
• Manage third-party vendors related to footprint expansion and buildout, onboarding, contracting, budgeting, and performance management.
• Maintain an ongoing physical presence among the stores.
• Design semi-permanent as well as temporary layouts of store merchandise based upon best-practice strategy as well as the nuances of our industry, brand and customer.
• Manage costs on an ongoing basis by performing inventory, labor, shrinkage and operational analysis.
• Prepare timely inventory, sales, operational, and payroll forecasting/budgeting while interpreting financial reports to ensure optimal sales performance and profits by door.
• Identify underperforming metrics and generate strategic solutions that leverage existing tools, programs, and resources.
• Attract, hire, train, coach, develop, and retain a diverse team of top talent while driving employee engagement and fostering a high-performance environment that inspires and encourages.
• Ensure optimal stock-levels are maintained based upon sales history and expected trends.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and drive consistent brand messaging and experiences through continuous training, incentives and other in-store and out-of-store tactics.
