Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced Accountant with a strong background in nonprofit accounting, including handling multiple General Ledgers (GLs), managing diverse programs, and utilizing Sage accounting software. The ideal candidate will have a passion for supporting nonprofit missions while ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance, and data integrity across various departments and programs. Key Responsibilities: General Ledger Management: Oversee the monthly reconciliation and maintenance of multiple General Ledgers, ensuring accurate recording of transactions, adjustments, and journal entries. Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for multiple programs and departments, ensuring compliance with nonprofit accounting standards (e.g., FASB, GAAP). Program and Fund Tracking: Track and allocate expenses to specific programs and grants, ensuring accurate fund management, and proper classification of expenditures for reporting purposes. Budgets & Forecasting: Assist in the development and monitoring of annual budgets for various programs and projects, supporting accurate forecasting and variance analysis. Sage Software Utilization: Utilize Sage accounting software (or similar accounting systems) for transaction entry, account reconciliations, financial reporting, and budgeting. Internal Controls: Ensure the implementation and monitoring of internal controls and procedures to safeguard the organization’s assets and ensure accurate financial reporting. Audit Support: Assist in the preparation of financial documents and schedules for annual audits and regulatory reporting. Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations, including IRS reporting, grant management, and donor requirements. Collaboration: Work closely with program managers, grant managers, and leadership to ensure financial transparency and assist with financial decision-making. Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. 3+ years of experience in nonprofit accounting, including experience handling multiple General Ledgers. Proficiency in Sage accounting software (or similar accounting systems). Strong understanding of nonprofit accounting principles (e.g., fund accounting, revenue recognition, and restricted/unrestricted funds). Excellent organizational skills with a strong attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under tight deadlines. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across various departments. Preferred Qualifications: CPA or other relevant certifications (e.g., Nonprofit Accounting Certification) is a plus. Experience with grant accounting and reporting.
