Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Staff Accountant to join our growing team in the construction/landscaping industry. This role is responsible for full-cycle accounting and full-charge bookkeeping functions, ensuring accurate financial reporting and supporting daily business operations. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and comfortable interacting with customers, clients, and internal team members.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform full-cycle accounting, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, journal entries, and bank/credit card reconciliations
- Manage full-charge bookkeeping responsibilities through month-end and year-end close
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements and supporting schedules
- Process payroll and assist with payroll reporting (experience with ADP preferred)
- Maintain and manage accounting records using QuickBooks
- Support budgeting and job cost tracking
- Assist with project accounting functions (progress billing, job costing, WIP reporting) – experience preferred but not required
- Communicate professionally with customers and clients regarding billing, payments, and account inquiries
- Collaborate with management to improve financial processes and reporting accuracy
- Assist with audit preparation and compliance requirements as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience)
- 3+ years of accounting or full-charge bookkeeping experience, ideally in construction, landscaping, or similar industry
- Proficiency in QuickBooks required
- Experience with ADP payroll systems preferred
- Project accounting experience is a plus
- Strong understanding of GAAP principles
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with clients and customers
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
