Their perfect candidate is someone out of Construction with Acumatica ERP. They are open to other ERPs as they know Acumatica is not common. This is a 3-person team, all based in Fredericksburg. Their HQ is an hour away in Richmond. Very occasional travel to that office as needed. All resumes to Sheryl. If she likes it, she will forward to the VP of Finance for review. Our client, headquartered in Fredericksburg, VA, is a full-service Design-Build firm specializing in providing sustainable design and construction solutions for federal agencies across the country. Their business model is designed around providing superior services to their clients nationally and internationally performing design-build and general construction projects.
Their Richmond office is looking for a self-driven, talented Accounting Manager. The Accounting Manager is a key member of the accounting team responsible for managing and overseeing various financial tasks, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with accounting standards and regulations. This role typically involves a combination of day-to-day accounting operations, month-end and year-end close processes, and providing support for audits and financial analysis.
About the Role:
The Accounting Manager, reporting directly to the VP of Finance, will play a pivotal role in overseeing the financial operations within our construction projects, ensuring that all accounting practices align with industry standards and regulations. This position is responsible for managing the financial reporting process, including variance analysis, accruals, and job costing, to provide accurate and timely financial information to stakeholders. By implementing effective cost management strategies, this role will contribute to the overall financial health of the organization. Ultimately, the Accounting Manager will ensure that financial data is reliable, enabling informed decision-making and strategic planning for future projects. This role will be in multiple branches within the company structure and will require high organizational skills and attention to detail. Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, with at least 2 years in a managerial role, with a focus on general ledger, financial reporting, and reconciliations.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices, preferably in construction accounting.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Professional certification such as CPA or CMA.
- Experience with accounting software specific to the construction industry.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the preparation and analysis of financial statements, ensuring compliance with accounting principles and regulations.
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, including general ledger entries, reconciliations, and month-end close activities
- Reconcile intercompany accounts and monitor outstanding items to ensure prompt resolution.
- Conduct variance analysis to identify discrepancies between budgeted and actual costs, providing insights for corrective actions.
- Maintain job costing systems to track project expenses and profitability.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Assist with preparation for external audits, providing necessary documentation and addressing auditor queries.
- Collaborate with project managers to develop accurate cost reporting and forecasting for ongoing and future construction projects.
