The Assistant Controller will lead Finance & Accounting team members in ensuring accurate, simple and effective financial planning, reporting and optimization for the agency.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Responsible for preparing all financial reports, including monthly and quarterly financial statements, profit sharing reports, operating forecasts, and variance analysis.
- develop KPI reporting packages for stakeholders including the executive team, board of advisors, and banks. Provides high quality commentary and recommendations for improved results.
- Partners with other stakeholders to collaborate and review financial reporting and analysis, cost reduction initiatives, revenue enhancement programs and capital expenditure plans.
- Supports annual and periodic budgeting processes, including preparation, review, assigning department specific budgets, compensation planning, and tracking monthly / quarterly actuals vs. budget.
- Leads the external audit process and provides subject matter expertise on GAAP standards. Accountable for internal controls, auditing practices and the review of accounting transactions for accuracy and conformity with these principles.
- Manages a team of accounting and finance professionals. Responsible for day-to-day oversight, management, training, development and feedback.
- Directs cash management, bank reconciliations, and vendor relations.
- Oversees all tax reporting and payments.
- Participates in the management of corporate insurance, benefit providers, and legal agreements.
- Ad-Hoc Projects: Assists in the planning and implementation of key financial projects.
Requirements
Experience and Qualifications:
- Minimum 6-8 years of combined accounting, finance, or cost control experience
- Proven work experience as a Manager of Finance/Accounting
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in Finance or Accounting or equivalent. CPA or Master’s degree strongly preferred
- Experience working in the marketing, advertising or professional services verticals preferred
- Strong knowledge and understanding of GAAP accounting principles and procedures, revenue recognition, accruals, prepaids, balance sheet reconciliations, etc.
- Strong knowledge of financial reports.
- Keen attention to detail and excellent quality control
- Ability to identify financial risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Exceptional Excel skills.
- Hands on experience in ownership of various FinTech platforms and integrations
- Proven ability to supervise, develop and motivate less senior team members.
- Clear communicator with the ability to effectively interact with senior leaders, team members, clients and vendors.
