Position Summary

We are seeking a Buyer/Planner to support purchasing and production planning functions within our regulated medical device manufacturing environment. This role ensures alignment between customer demand, production schedules, and inventory availability, while adhering to strict quality and regulatory standards (FDA, ISO 13485). The ideal candidate will coordinate procurement, manage material planning for multi-level BOMs, and serve as a key liaison between operations, engineering, and external suppliers to maintain compliance and delivery performance.


Key Responsibilities

  • Process internal requisitions and initiate timely purchasing activities to support production and service requirements.

  • Represent customer demand in planning and production meetings, serving as a liaison to ensure accurate scheduling and fulfillment.

  • Support material planning and work order scheduling for multi-level BOMs, ensuring alignment with forecasted and actual demand.

  • Coordinate with approved suppliers, internal buyers, production teams, and logistics to ensure timely delivery of components and in-house parts.

  • Partner with Accounts Payable and Logistics to resolve invoice discrepancies, delivery delays, or receiving issues.

  • Use foundational engineering knowledge to interpret technical requirements and guide internal teams or customers through procurement processes.

  • Maintain compliance with FDA, ISO 13485, and internal QMS requirements in all procurement and planning activities.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, Supply Chain, or a related field.

  • 2–3 years of purchasing and/or planning experience in a regulated manufacturing environment, preferably medical devices.

  • Understanding of GMP, FDA regulations, ISO 13485, and the unique challenges of sourcing in a regulated industry.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt in a fast-paced, compliance-driven environment.

  • Proficiency in Excel (intermediate to advanced) with solid data analysis and reporting skills.

  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems; experience with medical device ERP modules is a plus.

  • APICS CPIM or CSCP certification is preferred.


Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods in an office or production planning setting.

  • Regular use of standard office equipment (laptop, phone, copier).

  • Occasional time spent on the manufacturing floor, including walking and coordinating with production and quality teams.
