Full job description

Purpose: The primary purpose of this position is to secure the right product, at the right price, from the right source, at the right time to achieve the sales and financial goals of assigned categories and enable the company  to achieve budget.

Weighted Responsibilities:

1. Total Vendor Management: Replenishment Buying, Data Analysis (50%)

2. Source Products and Vendors: Obtain costs, Develop revenue sources (marketing programs, bill-backs), Seasonal bid work (20%)

3. Daily Sales and Operations (20%)

4. System Management: Maintain system integrity (i.e. Product /Vendor set up and updating, Process/correct invoice issues (10%)

Essential Functions:

  • Continually identify and determine optimum sources of supply
  • Manage service levels and inventory of assigned categories
  • Make purchase decisions and manage process for order fulfillment
  • Be responsible for procuring designated quality and quantity
  • Minimize cost of goods
  • Communicate favorable purchasing opportunities to management
  • Support established logistical procedures to facilitate product arrival
  • Communicate effectively to all department Directors, Managers and Supervisors
  • Seek opportunity/spot buys
  • Monitor and report items/categories/business trends within assigned categories
  • Maintain awareness of market trends, technology, and food safety
  • Maintain awareness of Costa Fruit & Produce Company’s marketing strategies and competitive activity
  • Ensure that product recalls are completed

Minimum qualifications:

  • College degree preferred, minimum HS diploma required.
  • Minimum of 3 – 5 years previous procurement experience in Foodservice, Produce, or similar industry.
  • Strong computer skills

  • Multiple task management• Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, and able to accomplish team
