Position Summary
With a customer service orientation, responsible for rendering professional clinical care within the medical practice in support of and as directed by the Physicians. MA will also have general responsibilities to assist in the day-to-day operation of the office

Location: Union, NJ 
Pay: starting $21 – $24/hr ($43,680 – $49,920)

Requirements:

Critical Skills & Attributes

  • Academic/Technical Qualifications- HS diploma or GED equivalent
  • College education or trade school preferred
  • Computer literate
Industry Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a medical office
  • Knowledge of HIPPA & OSHA guidelines
  • Working knowledge of medical practice management systems and electronic medical records
  • Basic knowledge of computers and medical terminology is mandatory
  • Communication Skills- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
  • Bilingual Spanish highly preferred
  • Ability to work well with Physicians, employees, patients, and others
  • A committed and result-driven attitude to work as a high ethical and professional standard 
  • Unquestionable commitment to confidentiality, quality customer service and professionalism 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Places the patients in the examining room ensuring they are as comfortable as possible. Takes accurate histories and physical exam information. Obtains vitals, secures complaint, enters the information on the patient’s chart
  • Accessible to Physicians and Physician Assistants in office
  • Sets up appropriate surgical instrument tray for Physicians and Physician Assistants as necessary; pulls up X-rays and MRI’s in Exam Room for viewing; familiar with the PACS Imaging system
  • Screens telephone calls for the Physicians or Physician Assistants. Takes accurate clinical messages within the limits of EHR knowledge and practice policy. May answer patient’s inquiries with respect to medical questions within the limits of knowledge and practice policy
  • Performs triage duties according to practice protocols and as scheduled by the clinical supervisor
  • Prepares and reads patients’ charts for the day’s visit
  • Ensures that all equipment in exam room is clean and properly set up prior to each patient encounter
  • Cleans and restocks examining rooms for the day’s use
  • Ensures that reports from diagnostic tests ordered have been received. Prepares all diagnostic reports for availability to Physicians. Ensures they are screened and initialed prior to filing in medical record
  • Takes calls from pharmacies. Calls in prescriptions and prescription refills accurately to pharmacy as directed by the Physicians and documents accurately in the medical record
  • Assists in maintaining all clinical equipment to include sterilizing, if applicable. Evaluates all equipment for damage to report to the clinical supervisor
  • Documents telephone calls accurately in medical record
  • Adequate medical knowledge to perform the essential functions of the job such as: providing patient education regarding treatment plans/regimens; dressing changes; recording accurate patient histories and assisting with exams while coordinating other services
  • Performs other related clinical duties as required
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Oversee and ensure efficient turnover of exam rooms.
  • Maintain exam rooms in neat/clean manner at all times
  • Comply with patient needs at all times
  • Escort patients from waiting room to examination rooms; verify & update patient information in the EHR-Remove dressings, casts, etc., and provide patients with gowns as necessary
  • Ensure patient charts contain all pertinent information and are placed in designated areas for Physicians’ use
  • Alert Physicians of patients’ allergies via chart-Assist Physicians with injections, aspirations, castings and/or other procedures as necessary
  • Monitor supply levels, and replace as needed-Instruct patients regarding information needed once they leave the office to include use of braces and other DME
  • ??Apply knowledge of sterile techniques and OSHA regulations-Photocopy information given to patients, and place copies in appropriate charts

 

CERTIFIED MEDICAL ASSISTANT RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCUDE ANY/ALL OF THE FOLLOWING:

  • Assisting with epidural procedures
  • Phlebotomy
  • COVID-19 Testing
  • Setting up injections
  • Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) Injections
  • Removing staples and/or stitches
  • ???Searching the NJPMP to obtain patient Prescription history

OTHER SHARED DUTIES

  • Maintain and respect the confidentiality of patient information in accordance with company policy & procedure, and HIPAA & compliance guidelines
  • Attends continuing education courses as requested
  • Attends all regular staff meetings
  • Regular attendance is required
  • Presents professional image in manner, appearance, motivation and work habits
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Physician(s) or Manager
