Claims Specialist

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Oversight of the commercial claims which will include internal and external facing responsibilities interacting with internal stakeholders, customers, vendors and regulatory constituencies as needed.
  • Partnering with staff, develop and implement Best Practices throughout the commercial claims operation ensuring consistent delivery of high quality claim outcomes.
  • Develop, drive, and continuously improve department SOPs and KPIs
  • Assist and help formulate the claims handling strategies to achieve greatest efficiency and cost control in multiple jurisdictions.
  • Working closely with Legal to coordinate claims activities and initiatives designed to control costs and achieve positive outcomes in litigation management.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of departmental strategy

SKILLS:

  • Demonstrate mastery of commercial auto, property and liability claims management.
  • 5-7+ years of progressive experience with multiple state claims management.
  • Extensive technical knowledge especially in multi-jurisdictional claim management standards, practices, and procedures. Specific focus on commercial claims is preferred.
  • Ability to forge strong working relationships with internal and external business leaders
  • Excellent project management, business writing and oral communication skills
  • Candidate must be adept at resolving escalated issues with claimants, consumers, customers, attorneys and regulators. Must have excellent professional presentation and interpersonal skills, and the ability to interact and engage all levels of management/leadership

  • Must maintain highest level of Confidentiality at all times.
  • Ability to multi-task, follow up, and meet deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to identify discrepancies and take initiative to research variances and correct.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Detail-oriented and strong analytical skills; adept at problem solving and critical thinking.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree required, Advanced degree is preferred; insurance designations such as CPCU, ARM, etc. are preferred.
