CNC SUPERVISOR (SWISS LATHE)
Compensation $30-$35/hour
GLASTONBURY CT 

Our client is looking for an experienced CNC Swiss Lathe Machine Supervisor in support of Aerospace and Power Generation customers. Our client is a manufacturer of complex small, machined components in the Aerospace and Power Systems industries and has been in business for over fifty years. 

 

The right candidate will supervisor 5 to 6 employees in our 2nd building. They must have superior communication, remote collaboration, creative thinking, and time management, these skills are essential. 

 

This role requires a strong understanding of machining procedures, metal properties, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment. It is essential for the Swiss Lathe Supervisor to stay updated on machining technology and continuously improve their skills and knowledge. Operate and set up Swiss-style CNC Machines to produce precision parts for various industries, including aerospace, power generation and other industries metal parts.

Responsibilities include:

  • Operate and set up Swiss CNC Machines to produce precision parts for various industries including but not limited to aerospace and power generation.
  • Programming and setting up Swiss Lathes for machining operations using Mastercam.
  • Operating Swiss Lathes to produce precision parts.
  • Overseeing machine production and ensuring quality control.
  • Problem-solving and making decisions to improve efficiency and cycle times.
  • Performing machining operations and checking the accuracy of finished pieces.
  • Maintaining machines and assisting in repairs and maintenance.
  • Ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Read and interpret complex technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to ensure accurate machining processes.
  • Select appropriate tools, inserts, and machine parameters to optimize machining efficiency and part quality.
  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on Swiss machines to ensure optimal performance.
  • Collaborate with engineering and quality assurance teams to refine machining processes and improve product quality.
  • Conduct in-process inspections and quality checks to ensure parts meet specified tolerances and standards.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.

Requirements

 Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Technical certification or associate degree in machining, manufacturing technology, or a related field preferred.

Required Skills and Experience

  • 3+ years of supervisory experience.
  • 5+ years of experience as a Swiss Machinist in a precision fabrication environment.
  • Proficient in operating and setting up Swiss-style CNC lathes and machines (Star Swiss is a plus).
  • Strong understanding of machining principles, tooling, and fixture design.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings and specifications.
  • Familiarity with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with programming CNC machines.
  • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and practices.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
