.Responsibilities

  • Installation: Assembling and installing pipes, fixtures, and systems for water, waste, and air in commercial settings.
  • Maintenance: Regularly inspecting and performing maintenance on complex systems to ensure proper function.
  • Repair: Fixing problems like broken pipes, clogged drains, and damaged equipment to prevent business disruptions.
  • Blueprint reading: Interpreting architectural and mechanical blueprints to understand system layouts for installation and repair work.
  • Code compliance: Ensuring all work adheres to local and commercial plumbing codes and safety standards.
  • Site inspection: Evaluating job sites to determine the necessary materials and equipment for each project. 

Skills and qualifications

  • Technical skills: Proficiency in using plumbing tools, including specialized ones for commercial work, like crimping tools.
  • Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of commercial-grade plumbing systems, including water supply, heating, and ventilation systems.
  • Problem-solving: Strong critical thinking and troubleshooting skills are necessary to diagnose and fix complex issues.
  • Physical ability: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, which can include lifting heavy objects, walking, stooping, and kneeling.
  • Communication: Good listening and interpersonal skills to communicate with clients, supervisors, and other trades.
