Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Controller to join our dynamic finance team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting and financial management, with hands-on experience using Paychex software. Experience within the distribution industry is highly preferred. This role will be responsible for overseeing all financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all aspects of the company’s financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger, and financial reporting.
  • Manage the day-to-day accounting activities using Paychex, ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll, benefits, and taxes.
  • Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, along with detailed variance analysis.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor internal controls and policies to safeguard assets and ensure financial integrity.
  • Prepare and manage annual budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections in coordination with the senior leadership team.
  • Support the CFO in financial planning, analysis, and strategic decision-making.
  • Perform financial analysis and provide insights to support operational and financial efficiency within the distribution sector.
  • Ensure compliance with all tax regulations and oversee tax filings.
  • Assist in the preparation for audits and manage relationships with external auditors.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve accounting and financial challenges.
  • Assist in the integration of financial systems and process improvements, with a focus on automation and efficiency.
  • Stay current on accounting trends, regulatory changes, and best practices, ensuring compliance and advising leadership on any impacts.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience in accounting/finance
  • Strong working knowledge of Paychex payroll system and related financial software.
  • Experience within the distribution or logistics industry is highly preferred.
  • Comprehensive understanding of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and accounting principles.
  • Strong knowledge of tax laws, compliance requirements, and regulatory standards.
  • Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to interpret and present financial data.
  • Proven experience in managing and developing a finance team.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of management.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
