Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Controller to join our dynamic manufacturing team. This individual will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations of our manufacturing plant, with a strong emphasis on cost accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and implementing lean manufacturing principles. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of manufacturing processes, cost structures, and be capable of providing strategic insights to optimize operations and reduce costs.

Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management & Reporting:

Oversee and manage all aspects of financial reporting, including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for the manufacturing plant.
Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
Prepare cost analysis and variance reports to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for cost reduction.
Provide insights into financial performance and communicate key findings to senior management.
Cost Accounting:

Implement and maintain robust cost accounting systems to monitor production costs, labor expenses, and material costs.
Develop standard costing models and track actual costs against standards to identify discrepancies and recommend corrective actions.
Analyze cost drivers and propose cost-saving initiatives while maintaining quality and operational efficiency.
Budgeting & Forecasting:

Lead the preparation of the annual budget and financial forecasts, ensuring alignment with manufacturing goals.
Conduct financial forecasting and variance analysis to assess plant performance and make necessary adjustments to the forecast.
Collaborate with department heads to establish and monitor financial targets and KPIs.
Lean Manufacturing & Process Improvement:

Apply lean manufacturing principles to streamline operations, reduce waste, and improve productivity.
Partner with operations and production teams to identify areas for process improvements and implement cost-effective solutions.
Track and analyze the impact of lean initiatives, ensuring financial benefits are realized and measurable.
Inventory Management & Control:

Ensure effective inventory management, including raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods, to optimize cash flow and reduce excess inventory.
Monitor inventory turnover ratios and reconcile discrepancies between physical counts and financial records.
Internal Controls & Compliance:

Ensure compliance with all financial, tax, and regulatory requirements in a manufacturing environment.
Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure accuracy in financial records.
Team Leadership & Collaboration:

Lead and develop the finance team, providing mentorship and training to improve performance and technical capabilities.
Collaborate cross-functionally with other departments, including production, operations, and engineering, to drive financial excellence across the organization.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s or CPA is a plus).
5+ years of experience in financial management within a manufacturing environment, with a focus on cost accounting.
Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and a proven track record of implementing continuous improvement initiatives.
Expertise in financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and cost control within a manufacturing setting.
Advanced proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar) and financial software (e.g., Excel, Power BI).
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
Strong problem-solving abilities, with a focus on driving efficiency and cost-saving measures.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
Experience with inventory management systems and techniques.
Knowledge of manufacturing KPIs and financial metrics specific to a production environment.
Lean Six Sigma certification or other relevant process improvement certifications.
Ability to adapt to fast-paced, changing environments with a strong attention to detail.
