About the Role
We’re looking for a hands-on, technically strong Controller who thrives in high-growth, fast-paced environments. This role is critical in building the company’s accounting foundation from the ground up, ensuring financial integrity, and scaling processes to support global expansion. You’ll lead day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, and compliance across multiple international entities.
You’ll be a strategic partner to the CFO and cross-functional leadership, while also directly managing and mentoring a small team. This is an opportunity to shape the accounting infrastructure of a VC-backed startup positioned for major growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the full accounting function including GL, procure-to-pay, close process, and payroll across global entities
- Lead development and enforcement of accounting policies, internal controls, and compliance with US GAAP
- Prepare timely and accurate financial reporting packages for management and investors
- Guide and mentor accounting staff (currently 2 direct reports)
- Support tax filings, audits, and technical accounting research
- Partner cross-functionally to implement scalable finance systems and processes (NetSuite currently in place)
- Act as a key stakeholder in budgeting, forecasting, and strategic finance projects
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting; CPA license required and in good standing.
- 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally including public accounting and experience in high-growth companies.
- Strong technical accounting skills, including GAAP expertise and a strategic understanding of accounting processes.
- Proficiency in managing global operations and multi-currency environments.
- Experience with NetSuite, including multi-entity consolidations.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and strong analytical abilities.
- Demonstrated leadership skills, including managing and mentoring small teams.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information succinctly.
- A detail-oriented mindset with the ability to balance hands-on work and strategic oversight.
