About the Role
We are seeking a hands-on Controller to join a growing manufacturing company with a startup-like environment. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building processes, owning the numbers end-to-end, and wearing multiple hats as the business scales.
Key Responsibilities
- Own full-cycle accounting including general ledger, AP/AR, payroll oversight, month-end and year-end close
- Prepare and analyze financial statements in accordance with GAAP
- Lead forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis
- Oversee cost accounting, including standard costing, inventory valuation, and manufacturing variances
- Partner with operations to improve inventory controls, cost visibility, and margins
- Develop and refine financial processes, controls, and reporting as the company grows
- Support leadership with ad hoc financial analysis and strategic decision-making
- Manage external relationships (auditors, tax providers, banks) as needed
- Prepare for and eventually build and manage an accounting team as the company scales
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA preferred but not required)
- Manufacturing accounting experience required (food manufacturing strongly preferred)
- Strong experience with cost accounting and inventory
- Proven ability to manage full-cycle accounting
- Experience with forecasting and budgeting in a growing or evolving environment
- Comfortable working in a lean, startup-like setting where priorities evolve
- Ability to operate independently today and lead a team
- ERP experience required:
- Sage preferred
- SAP or another strong ERP system also acceptable
