Department: Surgery / Trauma, Burn, and Surgical Critical Care
Salary: $37-$68K 

GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT:          
The Registry Data Coordinator develops, implements, and participates in trauma/burn/EGS registry data entry practices that ensure accurate data, timely data entry, and timely reports to meet criteria for Level I Trauma and Burn Center requirements. The Coordinator is responsible for the daily collection and management of the trauma/burn/EGS registry database. S/He acts as a member of the multidisciplinary trauma team to support patient quality and performance improvement initiatives and to submit data to state and national entities. The primary role is the collection, abstraction, and entering of clinical data for all trauma patients admitted to or evaluated by the trauma/burn/EGS service. 
QUALIFICATIONS:       

  • Candidate must have one of the following:
    • Bachelor’s degree
    • Certification in registry coding
    • At least 5 years of equivalent experience
  • Well-developed computer skills.
  • Excellent typing and editing skills.
  • Exposure to clinical environment and medical terminology preferred.

SKILLS/ ABILITIES/ COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

  • Strong computer skills crucial; experience with data collection, data analysis, and/or data reporting preferred.
  • Possesses excellent organizational skills with ability to prioritize requests and assignments
  • Must have previously completed (or successfully complete within 12 months of hire) the following two courses:
    • The American Trauma Society’s Trauma Registry Course
    • The Association of the Advancement of Automotive Medicine’s Injury Scaling Course.
