Position: Dental Hygienist
Pay Rate: $42-$50 per hour
Duration: 3 Months
Location: Norwalk CT
Monday- Friday with one Saturday per month
Open to full time or even part time 2 days a week
Job Summary:
Provides prescribed dental hygiene/periodontal services to patients in a caring and professional manner. Perform all necessary oral prophylactic services including initial examination, x-rays, scaling, polishing, fluoride treatments, pit and fissure sealant, subgingival root planning and curettage. Educate patients in the proper methods of oral hygiene and plaque control.
Clinical
- Provides oral prophylaxis, scaling and root planning, sealants, dental and periodontal charting and topical preventive treatments for the patient population. To meet productivity targets quarterly
- Provides appropriate individualized patient education for maintenance of oral health. Emphasizes preventive techniques and compliance with recall intervals.
- Provides radiographic services.
- Reviews patient’s medical history prior to start of visit. Maintains accurate documentation of dental hygiene services provided and a hygiene assessment including periodontal charting by completion of the electronic dental record at the end of each visit.
- Maintains the treatment area, equipment, instruments and supplies in proper working order daily. Strictly follows safety and infection control standards.
- Shares responsibility for the maintenance of the logbook required documentation and task list including the autoclave with the dental assistant at a fixed site.
- Ensures all electronic charting, documentation, and telephone encounters are in compliance with agency standards.
Administrative
- Participates in the assessment of dental services and quality assurance program.
- Maintains regular communication with the dental director, staff dentists and office manager.
Qualifications:
- RDH degree from accredited dental hygiene school required.
- Licensure – State of Connecticut dental hygiene license.
- Minimum of 1 year clinical experience preferred
- Interest in providing care to diverse patient population.
- Commitment to preventive dental care.
- For Mobile Dental program: Reliable access to an automobile and a valid driver’s license or reliable access to transportation to assigned work areas.
- Written and oral bilingual fluency in language spoken by our patient population (for example, English/Spanish) strongly preferred.
- Requires as a condition of employment current American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer and AED (CPR/FPR/AED) certification. The only acceptable alternative is current American Heart Association BLS/AED for Healthcare Providers certification.
